Bed bugs are easily confused with other common household pests. Adult bed bugs are flat, rust-colored and about the size of an apple seed. Newly hatched, they are semi-transparent, light tan in color and about the size of a poppy seed. When inspecting for bed bugs, it is helpful to use a flashlight and magnifying glass. Begin by checking the area within 10-20 feet of where you normally sleep or sit, as this is the typical distance the insects will travel
Here are some indications that you could have an infestation:
- Red, itchy bites are appearing all over your body.
- Small blood stains are showing up on sheets.
- You smell a strong, unpleasant odor
- Black dots on sheets and pillowcases
Remember that bed bug populations grow exponentially quickly. A small problem can turn into a big one fast. Dealing with smaller populations is much easier for our bed bug team and less expensive for our clients if the infestations can be contained before spreading throughout the entire building.
Experienced hospital facilities and property managers know how devastating bed bug infestations can be if bed bugs spread from room to room.
